Spoiler: Season 1 Episodes 1-12
Gachiakuta is so good. Therefore if you are sleeping on it, cut it out. You’re missing out on a lot. It’s absolutely one of those anime’s where you sit down to watch the first episode and you get captured into the world. You immediately get locked in. Turning from 1 episode to the entirety of season 1.
We meet many fun characters with deep back stories, and lots of action to keep you on your toes.

We follow our sweet baby boy that has so many emotions bottled up. Trying to express them to the best of his ability, but it seems to come out in the wrong way most of the time. Also known as a “Worn out, Foulmouth, Butthurt, Rachety, Short stack, Sphererite”. If you know you know. He is from the sphere and that’s where we first get introduced. Also he may be from there, but the ground is where he feels more welcomed and at home. The one we know and love. It’s Rudo!!
While living on the sphere he was known to be a part of the tribe folk. Which is honestly just a fancier term for the poor community and essentially lives where it tends to be dirty and run down. Where the nobility is really just the rich class. The ones that live in luxury things.
When Rudo talks a lot about living on the sphere we get many great examples. Mainly with how humans treat others when they aren’t in the same social class.
“People turn things into trash so easily. Then those things are treated as filthy… And no one ever finds worth in them again.”
“The same thing happens to people.”

Being shown very clearly when Regto (Rudo’s Adopted Father) is murdered.
Cause lets remember what happens when the Hell Guards find him.
Rudo over his body, calling for help, and trying to save him. Then gets wrongly accused of murder. While trying MULTIPLE TIMES to tell them he didn’t do it. That the real killer was in the wind. Knowing damn well where our innocent little boy was going to end up.
At that very moment he was just another piece of trash that they could just throw him away. Not even wanting to investigate because they are in the lower class.
THEY DROPPED HIM INTO THE PIT WITHOUT A TRIAL!!!!
Thinking he’s going to die because that was what he was always taught. Then seeing that everything he learned was a lie. I guess not really a lie, but something they were just teaching on that they didn’t even know.
There turns out to be a whole economy living on the ground. With cities full of civilizations and dead zones that have trash beasts. They also have maybe one of the coolest and unique power sources.
There are these people called “Givers” and their power sources are known as Vital Instruments.

There seems to be a handful of people that have the powers of Givers that possess Vital Instruments. These are objects that are known to be a variety of mundane items that have sentimental values that are turned into tools that reflect the personality and experiences of their owner. The objects may be worn down and things people would consider trash. Though the users that wield them really care about them. So much that they believe that if you care for the item then a soul will inhabit it.
There are different types of Givers too. The good that take the utmost care for their instruments. Then the bad that treat their objects like their precious babies. Along with ones that don’t really take care of their items, but we don’t really talk about them. They are mainly split into two separate groups though.
The Cleaners and The Raiders.
Things get crazy and intense, yes, but we still get the funny moment to breathe. Sometimes you don’t really get to breathe because you are on the floor rolling trying to catch your breath.
Sometimes those funny moments happen right in the middle of all hell breaking loss. For instance when we meet Enjin and he’s yelling at Rudo to shut up, while complaining that he is usually a quiet guy. Then absolutely demolishing a trash beast by splitting it in half with his umbrella. Yes, that is his Vital Instrument.

We find out shortly after that Rudo is a Giver in what I think is the craziest way possible. By eating trash and biting a guy’s fingers off. Then is invited to join the Cleaners, but before being able to go to HQ he needs a little bit of training from Zanka.
Let’s just say. The training didn’t exactly go where anyone was thinking. Zanka comes in hot about his staff, Rudo not knowing how to smile, and both getting heated. Landing to literal shit being flung at Zanka because Rudo didn’t realize what he picked up, was in fact a plunger.
Which is one of the funniest and unexpected scenes I have watched in an anime. I was shocked.
But finally being able to go to HQ clean and not covered in shit. We get introduced slowly to the Cleaners and Supporters. They have their teams that support each other, but when they all group together it is something to be witnessed. They seem to all have qualities that would together be able to win a fight.

The groups are:
- Team Akuta – Enjin, Zanka, Riyo, Rudo, and Eishia
- Team Eager – Tamsy and Delmon
- Team Child – Bro Santa, Dear Santa, and Guita
- Supporters – Gris, Follo, Tomme
- Others – Corvus, Semiu, August
Also we would have met everyone at the same time, but when Enjin walked into one room and saw everyone staring at them. He decided it would be best to let them wait until later. Honestly would have done the same thing though. Cause if I was trying to introduce someone and then all of a sudden everyone staring would have me turning around in a heart beat.

After meeting everyone they started slowly taking Rudo on missions. Now these were supposed to be routine. NOT! If you thought they were going to be simple, that is your first mistake. We do learn some vital information though.
Trash Beasts can be powered by Vital Instruments. (THIS WAS A FIRST)
The supporters aren’t just there to look pretty, they can kick some ass.
The Raiders are after Rudo.
There are other characters that are crazy as hell.
First off supporters help on missions. Not having Vital Instruments makes people look down on them, but they sure are reliable in many other ways. They’re to help with logistics, tracking, tactical support, along with keeping records of what happened on a mission. They may not be Givers, but they still kick ass.

Second, why in the world do we have a character like Jabber? I’m not saying I don’t like him. I actually love his crackheaded ass. No really, because why is he Drugging/Poisoning himself and others? Along with saying a phrase that lives in my head rent free. Mainly because it is so outlandish.
“Yo Rudo. You got some good game for a worn out, foulmouth, butthurt, ratchety, shortstack, sphererite.”
Cause why he gotta say all that now.
But like any other time after all missions everyone ends up back at HQ to wind down and relax. This is where you start seeing friendships forming or the found family becoming more prominent.

This is also where Riyo takes Rudo on a tour of HQ. Learning that everything he has down on the ground is more than he ever had while living on the sphere. That quickly led to him treating desserts for the first time because where he is from that is only for the rich.
Honestly it might be my favorite scene because Rudo is just digging in. While she is encouraging him and thinking that is exactly how it was going to turn out. Enjin is telling him to get a hold of himself. Then Dear Santa comes along looking like the cutest little bully wanting to have some of the sweets. Rudo gives one to be nice and share, but apparently that wasn’t enough for Dear. So much so that Bro Santa had to sit him down and apologize for his actions.
I swear that boy could have stood there all day to get more candy. Both of them looked like they could kill someone over this candy.

The next day was a training day. Everyone thought Rudo was having some performance issues due to his all sweet diet the day before. That was so far from the case though. Zanka realized that because he likes to fix things then if an object isn’t broken it won’t work. Therefore using objects that have been discarded was the way to go.
Also can we just talk about how Zanka really lights up every time Enjin compliments on how well he did. Enjin really feels like he is almost like a big brother to his team or like a father figure in a way.
Back on topic, the timer on Rudo’s instrument isn’t really a timer. Riyo mentioned that it might not even be that dark. But being that the items fulfilled their purpose and can be laid to rest. Which to me I would like to think of it that way more.
While we are speaking of Vital Instruments. There are some that are used for more offensive attacks and some that are used for defensive attacks.

Looking at this instrument it is literally an artist’s dream.
Taking a trip to Canvas Town to get a protective spell for their next mission. Sadly the spellcaster they were going to visit had passed away from pollution poisoning. Thankfully this specific Vital Instrument could be inherited so it went to his successor.
Remlin is the new spellcaster and God I love her character. As an artist I wish this Vital Instrument was real. It can turn into different art tools to help cast protection spells and create some sick art. She cracks me up though because when casting a protection spell for Rudo she almost tattoos him. Which was unexpected for everyone. One minute holding a small brush pen to holding a tattoo machine.
The way she was just like, had a great idea for a tattoo, thought i would do it. Literally sounds like something I would do. She is also very lively and has this energy that if something is wrong, it’ll all turn out fine. We just vibing over here.

This isn’t our only artist though in the series. We got August that will freak out if he is rushed through a project. When he is able to work at his own pace he creates these sick masks and uniforms for the Cleaners and Supporters to wear in the No Man’s Lands. Honestly I would have a collection of all these masks if I could.
We also did get to meet August’s sister Eishia. She’s the only Giver that is also a healer. Thanks to her, we didn’t lose Gris during the fight where we met Jabber. Unlike her brother though she is more on the shy side where he is more open and loud. So when he was giving the masks to Rudo she thought he was making a bit of a disturbance. He was just excited though.
Once they have their full face that August made they are then allowed to go on the mission. The one to find the girl in the tower in the middle of a No Man’s Land to collect information.
We meet Amo on this mission and this is where things start to get really dark. This will be in a different post due to the sensitivity of the topic. We would like to handle it with care just as the author did.
Please stay tuned for a part 2.
In the meantime, who is everyone’s favorite character and why?
